West Elm’s Mid-Century Console was one of our first purchases in our new home. It is a beautiful piece of sustainably sourced furniture. Here is the description from West Elm.
Responsible, retro design. Crafted of FSC®-certified wood, the Mid-Century Console borrows its tapered legs, angled face and understated details from iconic ’50s and ’60s furniture design. Antique Bronze-finished hardware provides a luxe twist to the clean-lined silhouette.
The console’s legs are made from eucalyptus, and the frame is made of acacia wood. It feels like a retro piece from the 50’s and 60s. It’s extremely heavy. We’ve filled the console with board games and electronics.
After about 18 months of use, I’m happy with the purchase. It chips and scratches fairly easily, so it’s not kid friendly. It’s the perfect height for legos, but it takes very little to leave a mark so beware.
Our purchase price was $1,274, with a discount not including shipping. I’ve not seen free shipping on this. The price has come down a bit so with a discount you may be able to pick this up for around a grand.
